My, Oh My!
The Art of Storytelling.
Book cover design is an art form. Very difficult to master, but one that is pure artwork with intricate illustrations inside each page. To showcase my digital illustration skills, I combined my love for beautiful creatures and books to create this piece. I redesigned the novel My, Oh My A Butterfly! by Tish Rabe.
With children’s books, the illustration is more important than the design’s copy. Allowing the two multicolor insects to be the eyecatcher is critical. In order to engage children with the book, this cover pushed me outside my comfort zone, allowing my butterfly illustrations to pave the way.
I designed this entire project using the Adobe platform, specifically Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator. I also illustrated using Procreate. I was both the Lead Designer and Lead Researcher for this book cover redesign.
